Crawl Space Sump Pump & Drainage System
If you have standing water or a constant damp floor in your crawl space you likely need a drainage system to help keep your foundation and crawl space dry. We offer expert crawl space drain systems to meet your needs.
It Starts Out As A Dirty Mess
When we arrive at a crawl space that needs a drain and sump pump, it is typically a muddy mess due to water intrusion. Our crew starts by digging at 10 - 12 inch deep trench around the entire perimeter of the crawl space, and pumping out any standing water.
Installing The
Trench Drain
The next step is installing the drain line. We use a system called Hydraway, which is a geo-textile drain system that can handle twice as much water and lasts twice as long as a traditional plastic corrugated pipe system.
Setting The
Sump Pump Basin
We then set the pump basin, which is the large bucket that the drain line runs to, and is the area that houses the sump pump. We use an 18" x 24" basin and surround it with drainage rock to prevent clogging.
Digging The Exterior
Discharge Line
The sump pump needs to pump the water somewhere, and that's where the exterior discharge line comes in. This line starts as a 1.5 inch pipe in the crawl space, and widens to a 3" line under ground before expelling the water 15 ft. from your home into the yard.
Electrical Wiring By
A Master Electrician
Every sump pump needs to be installed on a GFCI protected dedicated circuit. We always employ a licensed master electrician to make this electrical alteration, as it protects us and the homeowner from fire risks, and ensures the pump can operate efficiently for years to come. To be frank, most of the pumps we see installed by other companies are wired incorrectly.
The Pump Is The Heart Of The System
We use contractor grade cast iron pumps manufactured by Glentronics. Glentronics is one of the only sump pump companies that manufactures their pumps in the USA, and has been one of the great American pump companies for over 30 years.
And The Final
Finished Product
The finished product is an integrated system, covered by a new vapor barrier. A sump pump is probably the most overlooked part of a home on a crawl space foundation. We provide yearly service inspections and maintenance is desired, to make sure the pump operates properly over time.
